Rawer than the more famous ‘Loaded’, but no less important. This remix by AW, built around a guitar riff, what sound like pipes of Pan loops, and shuffling percussion effortlessly conjures up, for me at least a past life. That’s not to say I don’t abide by its tenets now. Furthermore, the vibe contained within these grooves, no better embodied by the looped vocal cacophony, is all-encompassing and infectious. I suppose if he could do it with My Bloody Valentine, he could do it with anyone; this is cross-pollination in your sleep. The jump off point linking styles and circumstances that he did so well. Looking back it’s such a simple thing, as all the best ideas are. Have good taste, hold firm and let’s see what happens. This track was the gateway drug into dance for so many, if it hadn’t been AW, it would have been someone else, but it was him and let’s be thankful for that. Here we go!
