Machines Are Funky Tonight

I won't list any highlights except to say that the second half of this weekend's show is given over to a guest mix from Nitzan Hermon, head honcho of the wonderful
Fine Art Recordings in London. I'll also be giving away two copies of Radioslave's recently released Fabric mix. Nitzan's mix will be available to download from this blog tomorrow.

Three Of The Best

A double dose of Seth Troxler and one from Steve Bug. One from each artist from the Electric Zoo Festival, New York just over a week ago, and the other one from Berlin a week or so before. Bug's offering is being widely praised as one of his best recent efforts. I have to say that I agree, only inasmuch as most of what I've heard from him over the past few years has been wonderfully mixed but quite sterile (the "Fuse" mix cd excepted). Unfortunately the crowd gets in the way a bit, but the music dominates. Troxler, on the other hand, goes from strength to strength. His Electric Zoo set is spacey and psychedelic in parts, his Berlin mix is a little bit more aggressive, but there are tracks in common in both sets. One thing that sets him apart is his way with a vocal which, as far as I'm concerned, is as intuitive as Derrick Carter's. Any tracklist contributions more than welcome. I've linked to forum posts concerning these sets so check the highlights in this post.

Machines Are Funky Tonight

The show marks its fifth anniversary with this broadcast so it's lasted longer than most marriages. To mark this sacred occasion the beat goes on. It'd be nice to play a smorgesbord of featured tracks from the last five years, but it'd be hopelessly inadequate so I'll be featuring more groovy, relatively anonymous stuff that's keeping feet tapping and twisting susceptible minds. Turn on, tune in but don't drop off.

Keep it locked.
