The proclamation
that an artist has reinvigorated “classic techno and electronica” always fills
me with an immediate foreboding. This is what Luke Standing, aka Blue Hour has
been accused of though, which makes one wonder how his tracks will be
reinterpreted, by deinvigorating them, perhaps?
Steffi’s is my
favourite here, being the deepest and most aquatic, also reminiscent of some
French techno I’m enjoying at the moment, by the likes of KA One and St Sene.
Answer Code Request follows this with a piece of dramatic, big room tribalism
rooted in Valhalla. Marcelus’ version is a linear piece which never quite lifts
off, the tease.
