Track Of The Day: Giorgio Moroder - Chase (Casablanca Records)

An epic synth symphony from the mind of Giorgio Moroder that has one of the most memorable melodies ever committed to music. As most will know, it comes from ‘Midnight Express’, but play this to someone who doesn’t and there’s a fair chance they’ll have no idea that it’s 45 years old. Along with ‘I Fell Love’, the sound of the future at the tail end of the 70s. Great memories of being at a rave in Paris, Porte de Versailles, and Juan Atkins playing this, the crowd in uproar and everyone eating fresh strawberries which, at the time, tasted like the food of the Gods. Even better when you can walk home afterwards. It was at the bottom of my road.
