Not just Jeff Mills’ best track but, in my humble opinion, the best techno track. There are many other worthy contenders, but Gamma Player’s blend of beats, atmospherics and depth make this blend of sinister insistence a desert island disc. This record is, on the one hand an evocation of cheesy 1950s – 1960s red terror inspired sci-fi, and on the other industrial insect menace. This is the quintessence of techno; the genre distilled to its soul. A magical piece of music that infects your dreams and your being. Hypnotic and mesmerizing, it has the power to guide and confound, an endless parallax through which all life is viewed. More than the sum of its parts. This is genius at work.
