Charles Webster was one of a trio that made up Hot Lizard, and here he is, in his Love From San Francisco guise, remixing himself. Part of a double pack that also contains a Carl Craig remix, I like this because it has some sort of divine energy about it. Everything is calibrated just so; the bass growls in a subdued, barely bothered sort of way. The percussion furls and unfurls, never getting ahead of itself. The whole track has great energy, but at the same time feels like it can’t be arsed getting out of bed. Propping it up is an unabashed optimism. Everything’s going to be alright, no matter how cliched that sounds. It’s the sound of waking up on a sunny day, dancing out of bed and eating breakfast on holiday with your whole life ahead of you. Which is nice.
