Rereleased with new mixes of all tracks, plus the title track remastered. ‘Flamingo Tripper’ first came out 7 or so years ago and it’s Discogs page has plenty of comments from people exasperated at the stupid prices it’s going for, as well as at the lack of a repress. Well, frustrate no more, for it is here, rereleased in the middle of the summer, all sun kissed and ready to soundtrack more days of idyllic strolling. Which starts with the title track, falling somewhere in between the down and the uptempo, if that makes any sense, in which the listener is plunged into a world were the sun is permanently shining through trees and the landscape is one giant meadow, unrolling as you walk. The impression that you’re walking through a landscape in permanent soft focus is pervasive throughout the collection, with the hazy impression that you’re barely getting out of second gear, except for ‘Saturdays (Dream Cycle Recycle)’, a high end, uptempo piece of break beat body mapping, and ‘On & On (Edmondson Claremont Skies Revisit)’, which goes down a similar route with fuggier beats. All of this is danceable, in a “Marcel Marceau trapped behind an invisible window kind of way.”
