Ricardo Villalobos has cast his spell over many a remix, but this is his best. Some will disagree but I'm not listening. Taking Shackleton's already outstanding track to another level, and more than doubling its length, he transforms it from a bongo-led tribal, dubbed out, bottom heavy, psychedelic beatnik workout into a nightmarish minimal masterpiece. The spoken word is deadpan over geiger counter beats which endlessly unfurl, fluctuating as they do with suppressed intensity and menace. Shackleton emerged during dubsteps flowering and was incorporated into that mass. His music, however, has evolved into some sort of post-modern British folk. A true original who gets better and better, this collaboration remains one of his finest hours. And if Villalobos made just one more track half as good as this, he'd be laughing.
