The title track, besides being named after the seminal late night Granada TV vehicle for a nascent Tony Wilson, really is all you need to put the world to rights when it’s pissing down with rain outside and you’ve just come back from a 10k run, avoiding it all. It’s a self-propelled, synthetic piece of proto Euro disco the outer reaches of The Kuyper Belt. The bar has already been raised high, but that’s no need to expect it has to stop climbing. ‘Durga Lesson’ is a transcendental piece of tribal chug with some all-important incantatory spoken word. What’s it all about? Who cares. ‘Sister Dex’ is slightly uptempo compared to what goes before, but it’s hardly nosebleed and maintains the same effortless rave/disco crossover vibe. ‘Wadham’ finishes this release on what feels like a more serious note, winding down the beats, but not the intensity, in order to achieve what feels like a sonic comedown. Music to take loads of drugs to, or if you’re like me and have already taken enough, to be enjoyed and lived in. Utterly brill.
