Keeping it Yorkshire innit. LFO are from Sheffield and they are worth a comparison with Cabaret Voltaire not just for geographical reasons. So much of their output goes under the radar.’Psycodelik’, for their second album ‘Advance’ being a case in point. I bought this album pretty much on its day of release. However, it’s been so long since I listened to it that I’ve forgotten any specifics. ‘Psycodelik’ sounds like dance floor techno composed by a hybrid of The BBC Radiophonic Workshop and Jean-Michel Jarre. What it lacks in bass it more than makes up for in self-consciously affected space age high end effects and a sense of the euphoric. A great track from an album that I shall be revisiting before travelling up to Sheffield on Sunday.
