Track Of The Day: Jay Tripwire - Starseed (Musex Industries)

I remember a mix that Jay Tripwire put up earlier this year for Electronic Groove, and he described the music therein, and his own output, as “music for people who take drugs”. Or something like that. Of course this is the foundation of much of what passes for what we like to generically refer to as “house”, whether we like it or not.. And this piece of dubbed out, upfront, stripped down house music is very much in that vein. Riding the bpms to the higher end of the house scale, there is an element of friction that reins the track in somewhat, adding density and body where there is space and air. It’s a groovy piece of work that I can imagine mixing out of the rear end of a dynamic piece of dub techno. A track that keeps the home fires burning, supporting more fragile compositions with its strong bone structure.
