A track which, more than many claiming to do so, defines “swirling electronica”. For most of it’s length the synths just swirl, and phase in and out of a sonic maelstrom. And all that time they are underpinned by rampant drumming and embellished by the merest inflections of keys. The elements themselves are simple, but they take on new life due to the standard of production. At the controls is Hiroshi Watanabe, a producer for whom this type of emotive excursion is par for the course. Ever the one for the grand gesture, he ends up turning this track into a soaring, symphonic Detroit homage, forever pushing against the limits of what is a stylistically saturated genre, and extracting new riches.
