I hope it isn’t too wide of the mark to say that ‘Class Tourist’ straddles the electronic pop divide with reasonable confidence. If one crudely divides the collection into tracks featuring a vocal of sortsl and instrumental, and aligns the former (‘Flex, Fire & Praise’, ‘I’ll Be Coherent’, ‘I Think Of You’) with the more accessible, it may feel like easy categorisation. However, In parts it rages: ‘Last Season’s Meta’ is capable drum and bass and ‘Bootlicker’ is a powerful exercise in industrial, anti-utopian break beats, underwritten with a bittersweet signature. The truth is that this album surprises along its uneven journey and is full of reflection and emotion. It’s also very well paced, with the first three tracks providing a lift off for the rest.
