There are few better making a certain strain of melodic electro right now than Plant43, AKA Emile Facey. He seems to be able to throw down a top notch strain of machine funk at will. His sense of timing is impeccable, as is his ability to generate mood through moderation. This is apparent on ‘Dream Archive’, and ’21 Winters’, whose restraint adds gravitas and decorum. ‘Density Wave’ is the kind of up and at ‘em space funk that I never tire of, with layer upon layer of synthetic robot boogie mycelium coalescing to produce an effortless funk fest. For the first release on his new label, this is a wonderful statement of intent.
