One of Autechre’s more conventional tracks, ‘Lowride’ is a slo mo g-funk track that heavily samples Miles Davis’ ‘The Doo-Bop Song’, taking it to another dimension in the process. It also feels like “evidence of music that the duo could have made if they wanted to but went all weird instead.” Which is perfectly understandable. Why should/shouldn’t they? As well as this, it has the unnerving characteristic of sounding very much like Kool & The Gang’s ‘Summer Madness’. Which it’s not.
