Kronos Device - Planet X EP (No Static Automatic)

Title: Planet X EP

Artist: Kronos Device

Label: No Static Automatic

Cat Number: NSA005

Genre: Electro

1: The Men From Planet X

2: Crisis Point

3: Subatomix

4: Dark Architect

Kronos Device are Bass Junkie and The Dexorcist and together, as Kronos Device, they make dark, dramatic, heavy electro. Which, if you’ve seen the Guillermo del Toro film about a vampiric objet d’art that gives eternal life to its bearer, shouldn’t be too difficult a conection to make. ‘The Men From Planet X’ hurtles out of the blocks like an epileptic greyhound, all bass, vocoders and laser guided synths. A slight cheesiness resides around the title, which is spoken throughout the track, but it’s all part of the charm. ‘Crisis Point’ is more angular. The beats are precise, riveting the track’s outline in the dance cortex. The bell that rings in the background is a subtle sign of approaching insanity, which is nice. ‘Subatomix’ has a little of the birth of a new insect ruling class about it; from the debris of a nuclear war perchance? It’s a concise beat exercise with textured instrumental shifting that turns it on its axis. ‘Dark Architect’ differs from the previous three, suspending its syncopation and employing a lighter touch, allowing the track more room to breath and, in turn, endowing it with the energy to explore parts unknown.
