Label: Couldn’t Care More
Cat Number: NT014
Genre: Cosmic Disco
1: Monks In The Sky – Superpitcher
2: Monks In A Club – Repeat Orchestra
Smashing effort from Superpitcher this. ‘Monks In The Sky’ is a track inspired by ‘Monks In A Club’, in which “the essence is reworked”. The original, if it’s right to call it that, is a repetitive piece of Euro disco which evokes humid nights in eighties Cote d’Azur discos with its generic sub saharan fret picking. However, it is but a rudimentary foundation and in spite of its innate grooviness doesn’t get out of second gear. Superpitcher’s composition rolls out the cosmic red carpet to become a blank canvas for dreams and visions. It’s a monumental piece of hypnotic chug and, as such, should be treated with the incantatory reverence it evokes. This is a track that has mix foundation and versatility all over it, so expect to hear it ducking in and out of other tunes, or even as a prolonged, hallucinogenic symphony at an other-worldly enclave of your choice soon.
