Roses & Aliens – Emotional Ty (EMTY)
I came across the first four releases in this chart while listening to Jane Fitz’s excellent Rinse FM show. The track off this release that she played is ‘Dream Journal’, a superlative piece of prog/trance inflected deep house.
Tranceporter – Oall Hoates (Of Paradise)
Funnily enough, I’d stumbled upon this release a few days before. Attracted by the artist’s obviously awful spoonerism, I had to know more.
Kopp – Birds Ov Paradise (Manjumasi)
More mystical, tranced-out business. I can see its benefits.
Byron’s Theme – Pillow Queen (Radiant Love)
So you take it in small doses, and pitch down if necessary, as with the Ex-Terrestrial mix of the title track.
Plant Lyfe Vol. 1 – V/A (Eternal Ocean)
A compilation featuring three artists: Internal Transfer, Ceres and D.X.M. apparently this is the result of collaborative projects that should have been released three years ago. A little random, but to be expected. Interesting though, and versatile.
Sandtrax – Hame DJ (Kalahari Oyster Cult)
An organic, breaks dominated game of two halves. Side A goes for the jugular, while B is far more horizontal. Fresh rave shizzle.
Green Carrot – Gladis (Minimmal Movement)
Lovely stuff out of Nijmigen. Firmament pressing aquatic beats which evoke a Devonian, dawn of time panorama. Some great noises constantly going off in the background in all these tracks, which is what you want.
Unknown World EP – Remus (Blue)
Follow on from Gladis, but more linear and dubby. This is what I expect from a double header where the tunes are nine minutes or so long. They don’t disappoint. Twangy and deep.
Existenzmaximum – Datassette (Future Massive)
Electro, but a little bit more. Everything’s a little bit wonky here, as if the conventional framework isn’t flexible enough. I’m listening to a lot of similar stuff at the moment, which is whimsical, off beat, and eccentric. All good and very imaginative.
ENDZ 034 – Diego Krause (Eastenderz)
