For the 50th release on Solar One, The Exaltics team up with Paris The Black Fu to release five tracks of dystopian electro which feel more in tune with the times than ever. One of the reasons that electro is currently enjoying a renaissance is, I believe, that it soundtracks, and implicitly comments on, this era of misinformation better than any other genre. Due more to Paris’s vocals than any other reason, this release evokes classic Aux 88 and Direct Beat. Having said that the beats play an equal part in the drama; those of ‘The Troublemaker’ and ‘Radioactive Rain’ being more skittish and urgent than the more bottom heavy ‘Propaganda DNA’ and ‘We Exist’. The package closes on the eerie ‘We Don't Take Humans’ which, like ‘Intro’, provides an eerie broadcast bookend.
