Steven Rutter and B12 embody the dawn of time analogue aesthetic as we ll if not better than anyone else. It’s a sound that has aged very well and continues to provide new insight and angles on a variety of situations, both abstract and concrete. This release is a typically evocative quartet of cryptically titled tracks, each of which confronts the listener at a slightly different pace from the previous. ‘Down and Down’ is perhaps the most typical of the genre, its scope being epic enough to accommodate most moods, while the other three compositions play a supporting role, but only inasmuch as they, rather involuntarily, slip away into the darkness respectively.
